India has contributed USD 37.64 million to the 2025 United Nations Regular Budget, reaffirming its commitment to the global organization. The country is among the 35 member states that have paid their budget assessments in full and within the 30-day due period specified in UN financial regulations.
India Among the Early Payers to the UN Budget
According to the UN Committee on Contributions, as of January 31, 2025, thirty-five member states have met their financial obligations on time. India’s full and timely payment places it on the UN’s “honour roll”, recognizing countries that contribute to the organization’s functioning without delays.
UN Acknowledges India’s Timely Contribution
During a daily press briefing, Stephane Dujarric, Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, expressed gratitude towards India, stating, “We thank our friends in India.” India has consistently been a responsible member of the UN, ensuring timely contributions to the organization’s budget year after year.
Last week, UN General Assembly President Philemon Yang, who is scheduled to visit India from February 4-8, praised the country’s dedication to fulfilling its obligations. In an interview with PTI, he stated, “India continues to fulfil its obligation as a member state of the UN by paying its dues in full and on time.”
India’s Commitment to Multilateralism
India’s contribution underscores its commitment to the United Nations’ mission and operations worldwide. By consistently making its financial contributions on time, India reinforces its stance as a responsible global player and a supporter of international peacekeeping, humanitarian efforts, and development programs.
As the UN continues to address global challenges, timely payments from member states ensure the organization can function effectively. India’s adherence to its financial responsibilities strengthens its role as a key participant in international governance and decision-making.
